For me, Paris is the greater/nobler man because he tried to stop the war to end further violence and bloodshed through a duel with Menelaus. Before Menelaus could even defeat Paris, the spirit of Aphrodite saved Paris from the defeat of the duel.
Even though Menelaus is stronger than Paris. Paris' will of getting the woman that was promised to him -- Helen, is a sign that a will of somebody can easily put down the physical strength.
